Though the majority of chemicals in cosmetics pose very little or zero threat, several dozen have been linked to substantial health problems, such as cancer, and neurological harm. Cosmetic chemicals can enter the body through inhalation, ingestion, and the skin, and lead to similar problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Contaminants and chemicals linked to cancer can be found in food, water, and several other ordinary items.
