While the majority of chemicals in cosmetics pose minimal or absolutely no risk, several are associated with severe health conditions, including cancer, and neurological harm. Cosmetic chemicals gain entry to a person's body through internal use, the skin, and inhalation, and pose similar risks as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals associated with cancer can be found in food, water, and several other common items. Yet, no sector of consumer items is accountable to less government inspection than cosmetics and other personal products, including Foundation. Although most of the chemicals in cosmetics and personal care products in all likelihood pose very little risk, subjection to some is associated with significant health issues, including cancer.
