While most chemicals in cosmetic products pose slight or no danger, several dozen are associated with severe health conditions, including cancer, and neurological harm. Chemicals in cosmetics enter the body through inhalation, the skin, and ingestion, and cause similar problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals and contaminants linked to cancer can be found in food and many other common goods. But, no group of consumer goods is accountable to less government management than cosmetics, including Figure 8s & Heart Breaks. While most of the chemicals and contaminants in cosmetics and personal care products very likely present minimal risk, being exposed to a few is linked to worrying health problems, such as cancer.
