Chemicals in cosmetics gain entry to the body through ingestion, inhalation, and internal use, and cause the same problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Contaminants and chemicals associated with cancer are found in food and many other commonly used products. Yet, no group of consumer products is subject to less government inspection than cosmetics and other personal products, including Lip Palette Vol.1 (Shade Primary 1).
