Though the majority of chemicals in cosmetics pose very little or zero threat, some have been linked to considerable health conditions, such as developmental delays and cancer. Chemicals in cosmetics invade the body through inhalation, the skin, and ingestion, and pose similar risks as food chemicals, per this site.

Contaminants and chemicals linked to cancer are found in food, water, and lots of other ordinary products. Yet, no kind of consumer products is susceptible to less government management than cosmetics and other personal products, including Lip Palette Vol.1 (Shade 4). Although many of the chemicals in cosmetics and personal care products probably pose minimal risk, exposure to some is linked to substantial health problems, such as cancer.
