Though many chemicals in beauty products and cosmetics present very little or no threat, several dozen are associated with substantial health problems, such as developmental delays and cancer. Chemicals in cosmetics invade the body through inhalation, the skin, and ingestion, and lead to similar problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals and contaminants associated with cancer can be found in food and a lot of other commonly used products. Still, no category of consumer products is subject to less government direction than cosmetics, including Jester. While many of the chemicals in cosmetics almost certainly present little risk, subjection to some has been associated with critical health conditions, including cancer.
