Though most chemicals in cosmetics pose slight or zero danger, several dozen have been associated with severe health issues, including cancer, reproductive and neurological harm, and developmental delays. Cosmetic chemicals can enter the body through the skin, inhalation, ingestion and internal use, and pose the same problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Contaminants and chemicals associated with cancer can be found in food, water, and various other commonly used goods.
