While most chemicals in cosmetics present slight or absolutely no threat, several have been linked to significant health problems, such as developmental delays and cancer. Cosmetic chemicals get into the body through the skin and inhalation, and cause similar problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals associated with cancer can be found in food, water, and various other common products. Yet, no category of consumer products is subject to less government direction than cosmetics, including Stick Foundation (Fawn).
