While many chemicals in cosmetics present limited or no risk, several dozen have been linked to considerable health problems, such as cancer, and neurological harm. Chemicals in cosmetics can enter the body through internal use, the skin, and inhalation, and lead to similar risks as food chemicals, per this site.
