While many chemicals in cosmetic products present slight or no threat, several dozen have been associated to significant health conditions, including cancer, and neurological harm. Chemicals in cosmetics enter the body through inhalation, ingestion, and the skin, and cause similar problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals and contaminants linked to cancer are found in water, food, and several other commonly used products.
