While most chemicals in beauty products present little or no risk, several have been associated to substantial medical issues, including cancer, and neurological harm. Chemicals in cosmetics enter a person's body through inhalation, ingestion, and the skin, and lead to similar risks as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals and contaminants linked to cancer are found in food, water, and lots of other common items. Yet, no group of consumer items is subject to less government direction than cosmetics, including Holiday Beauty Display (lip gloss).
