Though most chemicals in beauty products pose little or no danger, several dozen have been associated to serious medical issues, including cancer, reproductive and neurological harm, and developmental delays. Cosmetic chemicals invade the body through the skin, inhalation, ingestion and internal use, and pose the same problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Contaminants and chemicals linked to cancer can be found in food, water, and several other commonly used items. However, no area of consumer items is subject to less government inspection than cosmetics and other personal products, including eye pigment all nighter.
