Although many chemicals in cosmetic products present hardly any or no danger, several are linked with severe health problems, including developmental delays and cancer. Cosmetic chemicals enter the body through the skin and inhalation, and pose the same problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals and contaminants associated with cancer are found in food and various other ordinary products. But, no category of consumer products is subject to less government oversight than cosmetics and other personal care products, including Modern Renaissance (Shade Realgar).
