While the majority of chemicals in beauty products and cosmetics pose limited or no risk, several dozen are linked to considerable health conditions, including cancer, and neurological harm. Chemicals in cosmetics get into the body through inhalation, ingestion, and the skin, and cause the same problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals and contaminants associated with cancer can be found in water, food, and lots of other common products.
