Though many chemicals in cosmetic products present minimal or absolutely no risk, several dozen have been associated to severe medical problems, including cancer, and neurological harm. Chemicals in cosmetics can enter a person's body through the skin, inhalation, ingestion and internal use, and pose the same risks as food chemicals, per this site.

Contaminants and chemicals associated with cancer are found in food, water, and a lot of other everyday items.
