While the majority of chemicals in beauty products and cosmetics pose slight or zero threat, some are linked to severe medical conditions, including developmental delays and cancer. Cosmetic chemicals enter the body through the skin and inhalation, and lead to the same risks as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals and contaminants associated with cancer are found in water, food, and various other common items. Yet, no type of consumer items is susceptible to less government management than cosmetics, including Bitzy Volumizing Mascara (all shades).
