While many chemicals in cosmetic products present minimal or zero risk, several dozen have been linked with severe health problems, including cancer, and neurological harm. Cosmetic chemicals gain entry to the body through internal use, the skin, and inhalation, and lead to the same problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals associated with cancer can be found in food, water, and lots of other commonly used items. But, no category of consumer items is subject to less government management than cosmetics, including SERUM INTENSE LIPSTICK (LR09). While most of the chemicals in cosmetics and personal care products almost certainly pose very little risk, subjection to a few is associated with critical health conditions, including cancer.
