While most chemicals in cosmetics pose very little or no danger, some have been associated with considerable health issues, including developmental delays and cancer. Cosmetic chemicals enter a person's body through internal use, the skin, and inhalation, and pose similar problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals associated with cancer are found in water, food, and lots of other commonly used items.
