While the majority of chemicals in beauty products pose limited or no risk, several dozen have been linked with substantial medical issues, such as cancer, and neurological harm. Chemicals in cosmetics can enter the body through inhalation, ingestion, and the skin, and lead to similar problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals linked to cancer are found in food, water, and several other commonly used goods. Still, no group of consumer goods is susceptible to less government inspection than cosmetics and other personal care products, including Eyeshadow Refill (Brownie Shade).
