While most chemicals in beauty products and cosmetics pose minimal or no threat, several dozen have been associated with serious health problems, such as cancer, and neurological harm. Chemicals in cosmetics invade a person's body through inhalation, the skin, and ingestion, and cause similar problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals associated with cancer are found in food and a lot of other common items.
