While many chemicals in cosmetics pose little or zero danger, several dozen have been associated with substantial medical problems, including developmental delays and cancer. Cosmetic chemicals can enter a person's body through inhalation, the skin, and ingestion, and cause the same problems as food chemicals, per this site.
