Although many chemicals in cosmetics present slight or zero risk, several dozen are associated to severe health conditions, including cancer, reproductive and neurological harm, and developmental delays. Cosmetic chemicals can enter the body through the skin, inhalation, ingestion and internal use, and cause the same risks as food chemicals, per this site.

Contaminants and chemicals linked to cancer are found in water, food, and several other commonly used goods.
