Although the majority of chemicals in cosmetics pose slight or no risk, some have been associated with serious health problems, such as cancer, and neurological harm. Chemicals in cosmetics enter the body through the skin, inhalation, ingestion and internal use, and cause similar problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals associated with cancer can be found in food, water, and lots of other commonly used goods. Still, no classification of consumer goods is subject to less government oversight than cosmetics and other personal care products, including Big & False Lash Volume Mascara (all shades). While most of the chemicals and contaminants in cosmetics and personal care products most likely present minimal risk, exposure to some is associated with major health issues, including cancer.
