Though the majority of chemicals in cosmetics pose minimal or no threat, dozens are associated with serious health problems, such as cancer, reproductive and neurological harm, and developmental delays. Cosmetic chemicals can enter a person's body through the skin and inhalation, and lead to similar problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals associated with cancer are found in food and several other common goods. Still, no type of consumer goods is susceptible to less government inspection than cosmetics and other personal products, including Eye Shadow (Blackout). While many of the chemicals and contaminants in cosmetics likely present very little risk, being exposed to some is associated with serious health concerns, including cancer.
