While most chemicals in beauty products and cosmetics pose little or no risk, several dozen have been associated with considerable medical issues, including cancer, and neurological harm. Chemicals in cosmetics can enter the body through inhalation, ingestion, and the skin, and lead to similar problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals linked to cancer are found in food and many other common items.
