Though most chemicals in beauty products pose very little or zero threat, dozens are associated to serious medical conditions, such as developmental delays and cancer. Cosmetic chemicals enter the body through ingestion, inhalation, and internal use, and lead to similar risks as food chemicals, per this site.

Contaminants and chemicals associated with cancer are found in food and several other everyday goods.
