Though many chemicals in cosmetic products pose little or zero threat, some have been associated to serious medical problems, including cancer, reproductive and neurological harm, and developmental delays. Chemicals in cosmetics get into a person's body through the skin and inhalation, and lead to similar problems as food chemicals, per this site.
