While many chemicals in cosmetic products pose slight or zero danger, several have been linked with serious medical conditions, such as developmental delays and cancer. Chemicals in cosmetics gain entry to the body through ingestion, inhalation, and internal use, and cause the same problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals and contaminants associated with cancer can be found in food, water, and many other commonly used items.
