Although many chemicals in cosmetic products pose very little or absolutely no risk, some are associated with significant medical conditions, including cancer, and neurological harm. Chemicals in cosmetics can enter the body through internal use, the skin, and inhalation, and lead to similar problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals associated with cancer are found in water, food, and many other everyday products. But, no type of consumer products is susceptible to less government management than cosmetics, including Lip Gloss (You Look Pink-Tastic). While most of the chemicals in cosmetics almost certainly present very little risk, exposure to some has been associated with major health conditions, such as cancer.
