Though the majority of chemicals in cosmetics present very little or zero threat, several dozen have been linked to severe medical issues, including neurological harm and cancer. Cosmetic chemicals gain entry to a person's body through the skin, inhalation, ingestion and internal use, and lead to similar problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals associated with cancer can be found in food and several other everyday items. But, no category of consumer items is subject to less government oversight than cosmetics and other personal care products, including Lip Gloss (Mauve to the beat).
