While many chemicals in beauty products and cosmetics pose limited or absolutely no threat, some have been linked with serious medical problems, such as developmental delays and cancer. Chemicals in cosmetics gain entry to a person's body through the skin, inhalation, ingestion and internal use, and pose similar problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals associated with cancer are found in food and lots of other commonly used products. But, no group of consumer products is susceptible to less government oversight than cosmetics and other personal products, including Lip Gloss (Sweet & Dreamy). Although many of the chemicals in cosmetics and personal care products likely present very little risk, subjection to some is associated with major health concerns, such as cancer.
