Though many chemicals in cosmetic products present little or absolutely no risk, some are linked to substantial health issues, including cancer, and neurological harm. Cosmetic chemicals get into the body through inhalation, the skin, and ingestion, and lead to the same risks as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals associated with cancer can be found in food, water, and various other commonly used items.
