Though most chemicals in beauty products present little or no threat, several dozen have been linked to serious medical conditions, including developmental delays and cancer. Cosmetic chemicals can enter a person's body through inhalation, ingestion, and the skin, and lead to similar dangers as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals associated with cancer can be found in water, food, and lots of other ordinary products.
