Although many chemicals in cosmetics present minimal or zero threat, some have been associated with severe medical problems, including cancer, reproductive and neurological harm, and developmental delays. Cosmetic chemicals enter the body through inhalation, the skin, and ingestion, and cause the same risks as food chemicals, per this site.

Contaminants and chemicals associated with cancer are found in food and lots of other everyday products.
