While the majority of chemicals in beauty products and cosmetics pose hardly any or no threat, several dozen have been linked with substantial health issues, such as cancer, and neurological harm. Cosmetic chemicals gain entry to the body through internal use, the skin, and inhalation, and pose the same risks as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals and contaminants associated with cancer can be found in food and lots of other common items. But, no classification of consumer items is subject to less government direction than cosmetics, including Lip Gloss (Round of Cosmos!). Though most of the chemicals in cosmetics most likely present little risk, exposure to some has been associated with substantial health issues, including cancer.
