Although most chemicals in cosmetic products pose slight or no risk, several have been linked with considerable health issues, such as cancer, reproductive and neurological harm, and developmental delays. Cosmetic chemicals invade the body through ingestion, inhalation, and internal use, and lead to the same problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Contaminants and chemicals linked to cancer are found in food, water, and various other commonly used items. Yet, no area of consumer items is susceptible to less government management than cosmetics, including Lip Gloss (Round of Cosmos!). While many of the chemicals and contaminants in cosmetics most likely present little risk, being exposed to some is linked to serious health concerns, such as cancer.
