While the majority of chemicals in cosmetics pose minimal or zero danger, several dozen have been linked with serious health issues, including developmental delays and cancer. Cosmetic chemicals gain entry to a person's body through inhalation, ingestion, and the skin, and lead to the same risks as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals linked to cancer are found in water, food, and lots of other common goods.
