While most chemicals in cosmetics pose little or no threat, dozens are associated with substantial health conditions, including cancer, and neurological harm. Cosmetic chemicals invade the body through ingestion, inhalation, and internal use, and pose the same risks as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals associated with cancer can be found in water, food, and many other ordinary goods. But, no category of consumer goods is subject to less government management than cosmetics, including Nail Polish (Canary Island). While most of the contaminants and chemicals in cosmetics probably present very little risk, exposure to a few has been associated with worrying health disorders, such as cancer.
