While the majority of chemicals in beauty products pose little or no danger, several are linked with serious health problems, such as cancer, and neurological harm. Chemicals in cosmetics invade a person's body through internal use, the skin, and inhalation, and lead to the same problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals and contaminants associated with cancer can be found in food, water, and many other common goods. Still, no classification of consumer goods is accountable to less government management than cosmetics and other personal products, including Lip Gloss (Shake & Shimmer).
