While the majority of chemicals in beauty products pose very little or no risk, several have been linked to substantial health issues, including neurological harm and cancer. Cosmetic chemicals can enter the body through internal use, the skin, and inhalation, and lead to the same problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals associated with cancer can be found in food, water, and lots of other commonly used products. But, no sector of consumer products is susceptible to less government management than cosmetics and other personal care products, including Lip Gloss (Tall, Dark & Handsome). Though many of the chemicals in cosmetics in all likelihood pose little risk, exposure to some has been associated with major health concerns, including cancer.
