While many chemicals in cosmetic products present slight or absolutely no risk, dozens are associated to serious medical issues, such as cancer, and neurological harm. Cosmetic chemicals can enter a person's body through ingestion, inhalation, and internal use, and cause the same risks as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals associated with cancer can be found in food and various other everyday products. Still, no category of consumer products is accountable to less government direction than cosmetics, including Lip Gloss (What a Catch!).
