Although most chemicals in beauty products and cosmetics pose very little or absolutely no risk, several dozen are associated with severe medical conditions, such as developmental delays and cancer. Chemicals in cosmetics invade the body through the skin and inhalation, and lead to similar problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals and contaminants linked to cancer can be found in food and various other commonly used goods. Yet, no classification of consumer goods is susceptible to less government direction than cosmetics, including Lip Gloss (He's the One). Although many of the contaminants and chemicals in cosmetics most likely present little risk, being exposed to some is linked to substantial health disorders, including cancer.
