While many chemicals in beauty products and cosmetics present little or absolutely no threat, dozens have been associated with severe medical issues, such as cancer, and neurological harm. Chemicals in cosmetics can enter the body through the skin, inhalation, ingestion and internal use, and cause the same problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Contaminants and chemicals associated with cancer are found in food and a lot of other ordinary goods. But, no classification of consumer goods is subject to less government management than cosmetics, including Lip Gloss (Kissed by an Angel). Although most of the chemicals in cosmetics and personal care products almost certainly pose little risk, being exposed to some has been associated with serious health disorders, including cancer.
