Although many chemicals in cosmetics pose little or absolutely no threat, several dozen have been linked to significant health issues, including developmental delays and cancer. Chemicals in cosmetics enter the body through the skin, inhalation, ingestion and internal use, and lead to similar risks as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals linked to cancer can be found in food and lots of other ordinary items. But, no classification of consumer items is subject to less government inspection than cosmetics, including Eyeshadow (4). While most of the contaminants and chemicals in cosmetics very likely pose little risk, being exposed to some is linked to serious health issues, including cancer.
