Though the majority of chemicals in cosmetics present little or zero risk, some are associated with serious health problems, such as developmental delays and cancer. Cosmetic chemicals enter a person's body through inhalation, the skin, and ingestion, and pose similar problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals linked to cancer can be found in food, water, and many other commonly used goods. Yet, no classification of consumer goods is susceptible to less government oversight than cosmetics, including Eye Pigment (5). While many of the chemicals in cosmetics and personal care products almost certainly present little risk, subjection to some has been linked to worrying health concerns, such as cancer.
