While many chemicals in cosmetic products present minimal or absolutely no risk, several dozen have been linked with substantial medical conditions, including developmental delays and cancer. Cosmetic chemicals invade a person's body through the skin and inhalation, and cause similar problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals linked to cancer can be found in food, water, and various other common products. Still, no classification of consumer products is subject to less government inspection than cosmetics and other personal care products, including Lip Gloss (FLAB-0043). While most of the contaminants and chemicals in cosmetics in all likelihood present little risk, exposure to some is linked to significant health problems, such as cancer.
