While most chemicals in beauty products pose limited or absolutely no threat, several have been linked with severe health issues, including cancer, and neurological harm. Cosmetic chemicals invade the body through the skin and inhalation, and cause similar problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals and contaminants linked to cancer are found in food, water, and various other everyday products. Yet, no classification of consumer products is subject to less government oversight than cosmetics, including Lip Gloss (FLAB-0043). Though many of the chemicals and contaminants in cosmetics almost certainly pose minimal risk, subjection to some has been linked to critical health disorders, including cancer.
