Although the majority of chemicals in beauty products and cosmetics pose little or no threat, several dozen have been linked to serious health problems, such as developmental delays and cancer. Cosmetic chemicals gain entry to a person's body through ingestion, inhalation, and internal use, and pose the same problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals associated with cancer are found in water, food, and lots of other common items. However, no type of consumer items is accountable to less government oversight than cosmetics, including Lip Gloss (FLAB-0037). While most of the contaminants and chemicals in cosmetics probably pose very little risk, subjection to some has been associated with significant health conditions, such as cancer.
