Although the majority of chemicals in cosmetic products present little or absolutely no risk, some are linked to serious health issues, such as developmental delays and cancer. Cosmetic chemicals gain entry to the body through the skin, inhalation, ingestion and internal use, and lead to the same problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals associated with cancer can be found in food and many other common products. Still, no sector of consumer products is subject to less government oversight than cosmetics, including Lip Gloss (Electric Pop). While many of the chemicals and contaminants in cosmetics almost certainly pose minimal risk, being exposed to some has been associated with substantial health disorders, such as cancer.
