While most chemicals in beauty products and cosmetics pose limited or no risk, dozens have been associated with severe medical problems, including developmental delays and cancer. Chemicals in cosmetics gain entry to the body through ingestion, inhalation, and internal use, and lead to similar problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Contaminants and chemicals associated with cancer can be found in water, food, and lots of other ordinary goods. However, no group of consumer goods is accountable to less government direction than cosmetics, including Eyeshadow (09).
