While the majority of chemicals in beauty products present little or zero threat, several dozen have been associated with substantial medical conditions, including developmental delays and cancer. Cosmetic chemicals enter the body through the skin and inhalation, and lead to the same problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Contaminants and chemicals associated with cancer are found in water, food, and a lot of other commonly used items. Still, no group of consumer items is subject to less government direction than cosmetics and other personal products, including Eyeshadow (Bobbi Trio3-2). While many of the chemicals and contaminants in cosmetics and personal care products very likely pose very little risk, exposure to some has been associated with worrying health disorders, such as cancer.
