Though most chemicals in beauty products pose little or no risk, several dozen are associated with significant medical problems, including cancer, reproductive and neurological harm, and developmental delays. Chemicals in cosmetics gain entry to a person's body through ingestion, inhalation, and internal use, and cause the same problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals associated with cancer are found in food, water, and lots of other everyday products.
