While many chemicals in beauty products and cosmetics pose limited or absolutely no risk, several are linked to significant medical conditions, including cancer, and neurological harm. Cosmetic chemicals enter the body through the skin, inhalation, ingestion and internal use, and cause the same risks as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals linked to cancer are found in food and lots of other commonly used items. Still, no group of consumer items is subject to less government inspection than cosmetics, including Lip Gloss (Gilty As Charged). Though many of the contaminants and chemicals in cosmetics and personal care products in all likelihood present minimal risk, exposure to a few is linked to worrying health issues, including cancer.
