Although many chemicals in beauty products present little or absolutely no risk, some have been associated with considerable medical issues, such as developmental delays and cancer. Chemicals in cosmetics can enter the body through ingestion, inhalation, and internal use, and lead to similar risks as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals associated with cancer are found in food and various other commonly used goods.
